Trauma Release Exercise (TRE)

Trauma Release Exercise (TRE) is a series of physical exercises designed to release tension in the body caused by trauma using the body's natural tremor response

With a few gentle movements, your muscles can naturally begin to shake or tremor. It might feel unusual at first, but this natural response helps the nervous system settle and brings a sense of calm. Many people find TRE leaves them feeling lighter, more relaxed, and more grounded. It’s not a therapy, just a tool you can use to support your wellbeing.

I pleased to confirm I have partnered with Wired Differently to deliver TRE sessions. Please find below prices:

Individual Sessions

1:1 TRE sessions - £132.00 per hour

This group space is for people who are tired of holding everything together and want a quiet hour where the body can finally loosen its grip. We meet online in a small group. Six people max. Slow. Honest. Human.

This is not about fixing yourself or becoming a shinier version of you. It is about letting your body breathe, tremor, settle and slowly trust that it does not have to stay braced all the time.

FAQs

Is TRE a therapy?

TRE, Tension and Trauma Releasing Exercises, isn’t officially classed as a therapy in the same way that CBT or psychotherapy are.

It’s better described as a self help method or body based practice that a certified provider can teach. The idea is that you do specific physical exercises that gently tire out or activate certain muscle groups. This triggers a natural shaking or tremoring response in the body, which is believed to help release deep muscular tension and calm the nervous system.

So, in short: TRE is not officially a therapy, but a somatic self regulation method that can support therapeutic work.

Is TRE held online or in-person?

All sessions are held online via a secure, confidential video link.

What does a TRE session look like?

In a typical TRE session with me, we start with a short chat so I can explain what to expect and answer any questions you might have. Then we move onto a few gentle movements to help the body prepare. These aren’t complicated or strenuous, just simple exercises to bring awareness to your muscles.

After that, you’ll lie down on a mat and allow your body to begin its natural tremor process. The shaking can feel very light or a bit stronger, but you’re always in charge and can pause or stop whenever you like. Once the tremors settle, there’s time to rest quietly and notice the changes in your body.

We finish with a short check in so you can share what you’ve noticed and I can provide guidance on how to practise TRE safely on your own if you wish. Sessions typically last an hour, with a focus on maintaining a safe, calm, and supportive environment.

How much are sessions?

1:1 TRE sessions are charged at £80.00 + VAT per hour

1:1 combined TRE and therapy sessions are charged at £110.00 + VAT

Group sessions - one off £18.00 + VAT, or a block of 4 £15.00 + VAT each

Why did I choose to train in TRE?

I chose to focus on TRE because I’ve seen how much stress, tension, and trauma people hold in their bodies, often without even realising it.

Talking can help, but sometimes words don’t reach the tightness in the muscles or the restlessness in the nervous system. TRE offers a simple, natural way for the body to release that build-up and find calm again.

For me, it felt important to bring in an approach that doesn’t just work with the mind but also gives the body a chance to reset. I like that TRE is accessible, gentle, and something people can eventually use on their own as a tool for ongoing wellbeing. It fits well alongside my other work and offers a different doorway into feeling grounded and more at ease.v

What if I feel awkward?

Most people do at the start. You are learning a new way of listening to your body. Awkward is allowed. Awkward is human. You will settle.

What if my body does nothing?

Bodies take their time. Some shake straight away. Some warm up slowly. Either is fine. There is no gold star for shaking harder. Your body knows the pace.

What if emotions show up?

Sometimes feelings shift when the body is allowed to loosen. Tears. Relief. A bit of irritation. All normal. You do not need to explain anything. I hold the space. You stay in charge.

Do I need to talk?

No. Silence is welcome. Speaking is welcome. This is about what the body holds, not talking your way through it.

Do I need to understand trauma or autism?

No. You bring your lived experience. I bring understanding and care for people who have carried a lifetime of being misunderstood or on alert. You do not need the language. Your body already knows the story.

What is I feel overwhelmed?

We go slow. We pause. We come back to the room. You never have to push through. Safety first. Your pace always matters.

What do I need?

A calm enough corner. Comfy clothes. A blanket, yoga mat and a small pillow if you like comfort. Enough floor space to lie down and be seen on camera. Water nearby. Curiosity helps too.

Do I need to be flexible or fit?

No. This is not a fitness class. It is about letting the body release what it has been holding. If you can lie down and get up with some level of comfort, you are good.

Is this therapy?

It can feel therapeutic but it is not talk therapy. It is a way of letting the body shift tension and old holding patterns that talking alone often cannot reach.

Why does the camera stay on?

I ask people to keep cameras on because this work is about presence and care, not disappearing behind a screen. When we shake and soften, things shift. Sometimes bodies get wobbly. Sometimes emotions rise. I need to be able to see you so I can keep you safe, steady and supported.

It is about holding the room properly.

If you need to adjust something or take a moment, of course you can turn to the side or step away for a breath. Cameras on simply means you are here in the room with us. That presence is part of the safety and softness we build together.

You do not need to look a certain way. You do not need a tidy room. You just need to be here. Visible. Human. Present.

What have clients said about TRE?

Client A
"I've been having TRE sessions with Monika over the past few weeks and have really enjoyed them. The sessions have helped me feel calmer, given me some much needed “me time,” and created a quiet space to just breathe. Monika is really patient and explains everything clearly, making it easy to follow along'".
Client B
"Monika invited me to try the shaking therapy and explained how our bodies naturally get rid of trauma through shaking. I am open minded so was very curious. Although I have not experienced any large trauma in my life, there have been many smaller tasks that I have realised I have not dealt with"
Client C
"Having a session with Monika... I found tremendously beneficial. Like my chakras had been opened and my energy was flowing more freely. I felt an overwhelming sense of relief.  Monika has helped me immensely. The therapy is so simple and effective'"
